Louis XV and his Polish Queen would have felt right at home here and they should. Large oil paintings of the royal couple adorn the walls and you will sit in Louis Quinze chairs under the light of crystal chandeliers.
If you arrive early or would like a flute before a performance at one of the nearby theaters just step up to the intimate bar that is also perfect for a romantic tète-a tète.
I was joined by Albert Nahmias, basking in the glow of the superb reviews for his new book Petites Histoires de Grands Chefs. Celebratory flutes were de rigeur as we scanned the menu,
I started with a crab royale sashimi and
Albert ordered the hand-cut carpaccio of beef with Asian spices and sesame oil.
I continued in my sea voyage with tournedos de bar (sea bass) on green cabbage.
Albert stuck continued with a filet de boeuf from M.Desnoyer.
We shared a beautiful confection of Matcha Tea with saffron and lemon-almost too pretty to eat.
Only open since late January 2015 Bien Aimé is an elegant space with perfect service starting with the charming manager/sommelier Dami Chong. Chef Regis Versieux has trained with some of Paris’ best chefs, including Joel Robuchon and I look forward to his summer menu on my next visit.
