Tales of Burgundy 2018 Episode I

Just back from four days in Burgundy tasting the gamut of pinot noirs, feasting on local delicacies often terminating with creamy epoisses while learning of the geological and political history of a region that was once the most powerful entity in Europe.

We arrived at the Gare de Dijon and in the spirit of Jacque Tati's M and Mme Hulot on Holiday began by trying to make sense of the modern keyless automobile. After figuring it out, more or less, we began our first day in Burgundy with a visit to the Cassisium in Nuits Saint Georges to learn the history behind the kir, invented by Canon Kir to make the mostly undrinkable Aligotés palatable. After that it was four days of non-stop feasting and drinking.
