An Evening with Marcel Proust and Stephane Heuet
Illustrator Stephane Heuet's graphic adaptation of Proust's classic was greeted with jeers when it first appeared in 1998, but the initial Buy print run was sold out in three weeks and it has remained a cult classic.
Like de Tocqueville and Doctor Johnson (Samuel not Diane) Proust is often referenced but rarely read by Americans, unless forced to in a lit class, but Arthur Goldhammer, the gold standard of translators, has woven Proust's text with Heuet's images to offer the perfect intro to Swann's Way.
