“One learns much more from authors’ conversations than from their books, and the authors themselves are not the source from which one learns most. It is the spirit of social gatherings that…pushes one’s vision as far as it can go.” –Jean-Jacques Rousseau

“Well attended, and the food was superb! This was a rich, enchanted evening…where strangers became friends.”
“Terrance always manages to pull together an interesting group of individuals and couples, a good mix of Anglophiles and Francophiles, from long-time Paris residents to first-time visitors. The events I have been to are always well attended…mostly artists and intellectuals, with a lot to ‘color’ to add to a rich, enchanting evening.” Roy Camblin, Author, San Francisco
Even though I look terribly glum in that photo, I had a marvelous time! The ambience of John Brainard’s apartment with his interesting art displayed and certainly some of the most delicious food I’ve had at any gathering, made it a very special evening. You always select interesting books and authors for us, and I liked hearing Susan describe how she chose fiction to write about this dark chapter of art history in Paris. So timely since new revelations about forced (or desperate) sales during the nazi era continue to come out. Like Suite Française, she has real life events happening to her characters and I look forward to finishing her book. Martha Ann Babcock, NYC
