The opulence of La Belle Epoque has been preserved at this massive, multi-level, terraced but remarkably intimate bistro that specializes in seafood. Inside polished wood, burnished brass and leather banquettes await to afford you comfort and elegance.
As you enter you will pass mountains of mollusks and crustaceans being shucked and prepared for the signature fruits de mer platter. We were ushered to our table and started our evening with flutes of Pommery Rosé.
After M selected a Menetou-Selon I ordered Carpaccio de noix de Saint-Jacques topped with a glace au poivre de séchuan that added a burst of sweetness and for M a tartare of salmon and daurade on a bed of watercress. Both dishes were fresh and zesty.
M can never get enough seafood so she opted for a scaled-down but still copious version of the fruit de merplatter with oysters, gambas, crevettes, moules. Poaching was permitted!
I wavered between a filet de cabillaudand a glazed tuna steak cooked in a wok with crunchy vegetables. My server never hesitated and I loved my tuna.
Neither of us had room for dessert so it will wait until our next visit–and we will be back, soon.
