Petrossian-Rive Droite-17th arrondissement

In addition to my articles about the elegant boutique of the internationally renowned caviar importer, PETROSSIAN, M was recently invited (with our foreign press association) to the recently opened Boutique Rive Droite near the Russian Orthodox Church on the rue Daru in the 17th arrondissement as they prepared for Christion Easter on April 5 and Russian Orthodox easter on April 12.

The warm welcome Cecile Petrossian (wife of Mr. Armen Petrossian) as well as Helene Petrossian (maiden name) , sister of Armen, transported  us to an elegant setting to start a tasting of 4 fresh caviar and several assortments of delicious herring, all prepared in their own factory in Nantes . Champagne and vodka as accompaniment we were transported a rare and festive universe.

But, since  Easter is the most joyous holiday of the year the Petrossian children still hunt for and play with eggs dyed in a myriad of colors (Mrs. Petrossian showed me the colors most often requested for use in the home.) You will also find decorated eggs to take home.

We also had the  pleasure of tasting traditional Russian cakes, the Koulitch, a cylindrical concoction made of dough and of currants and the Paskha, a pyramid of cream and candied fruits.

The Paskha is always adorned with the letters “XB” for Khristos Voskress (Christ is reckoned). The arrival of these two cakes atPETROSSIAN, it is a little like the first flowers at the end of the winter, the announcement of the return of the beautiful days!Le Réve.HD-paska-3-1024x680.jpg
