Many young chefs are applying classic French techniques to select Asian menu items and the results here were spectacular. The tempura prawns sitting atop an onion surrounded by a sauce of tandoori spices were crunchy and moist without being greasy and were a perfect way to finish the remaining drops of my champagne.
Alec’s velvety vélouté of cod with truffle foam looked fabulous but since he wouldn’t share I’ll have to come back to see if it produces the same smile that it did for Alec.
Next up for me was roasted lamb with chopped zucchini- a classic from Provence and Alec, dining off the formule had the poitrine de cochon grillé (pig’s breast) with crushed potatoes in a Meaux mustard sauce. We reserved a few drops of the Moulin à Vent for the Saint-Marcellin.
A round of espressos and we had finished the first of what will be many visits to the Mini-Palais for late afternoon tea, a coupe on the terrace and lunch, especially the super value formule of entrée +plat for a mere 28 euros.
One of the few fine restaurants in Paris that is open late, every day.
Enjoy a video visit with Terrance
