L’Auberge Bressane-7th arrondissement

My pal, Jimmy Romano, the renowned plastic surgeon from San Francisco was showing me his apartment near the Eiffel Tower when he remembered that L’Auberge Bressane was just a round the corner. So off  we went to the L’Auberge Bressane, a favorite with locals and government officials.

Bressane 2

Nothing fancy here, just a rib-sticking menu of traditional Gallic favorites. We started with a moist terrine  de L’Auberge with crunchy bread and a rarity these days, frogs legs sautéed  in garlic and parsley. We opted for  a Cote de Brouilly from Chateau Thivin to launch this meal.

It was morille season and I ordered a gigantic veal chop smothered with those wonderful French mushrooms.

and the doc chose a poulet de Bresse in a creamy sauce with those champion champignons. More bread was called for to sop up every drop of juice and of course, another bottle of the excellent Cote de Brouilly.

Contentedly stuffed, we waved off the cheese plate and dessert and finished the meal with an expresso. Than you Doctor Jimmy!

If you want to get an economical taste of the menu the daily luncheon menu (M-F) at 24 euros is  a treat for your tummy and your wallet
